Preparations for the 2030 World Cup

Extended meeting in Casablanca

As part of the review of the progress of the preparations of the city of Casablanca for the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup, the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Abdelouafi LAFTIT, chaired, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, an extended meeting at the headquarters of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat Region.

This meeting was attended by the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Mr. Faouzi LAKJAA, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat Region, Governor of the Casablanca Prefecture, Mr. Mohamed MHIDIA, and the various stakeholders involved in these preparations.

In this context, the development and infrastructure projects that aim to enable the city of Casablanca to be on time for this global event, in accordance with the requirements of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), were highlighted, with a focus on sports infrastructure: stadiums and training sites, transport and mobility.

Integrated management mechanisms for projects scheduled as part of the preparation were also planned, in order to improve the monitoring and implementation of these projects.

It should be noted that the holding of this meeting in Casablanca comes two months after the holding of an expanded meeting in Rabat as part of the intensive preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. A similar meeting was held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in Fez.
